Acting as a design consultant for Timex, I guided UX direction for a partner-built fitness app supporting multiple connected watches.
Process & Collaboration
- Worked across Timex US, Timex India, and external partners to shape a more unified app direction
- Evaluated existing app architecture and identified opportunities to improve workout flows and data clarity
- Provided UX recommendations grounded in partner implementation constraints
- Used presentation-driven artifacts to align product, business, and engineering stakeholders
Key Design Decisions
- Prioritized workout experience — focused on the most valuable features for active users
- Added depth without clutter — introduced GPS metrics (pace, speed, cadence, segments, HR zones) and heart rate zones (with formulas)
- Expanded GPS workouts — separated map, details, segments, and charts into clearer, more navigable views
- Support for connected accounts — Apple health, Google Fit, Strava
- Designed for multi-device support — created a system that could scale across different watches and vendors
- Strengthened brand presentation — helped refine visual direction across the app
Outcome
- Established a clearer direction for evolving the Timex India app within a broader global strategy.
- Defined a more compelling fitness experience through richer metrics, GPS workflows, and improved data clarity.
- Created alignment across cross-regional and external partners, strengthening the foundation for a scalable, multi-device Timex ecosystem.
